Event Description
Join International Area Studies for our April International Café with guest speaker Angela Kachuyevski, PhD, director of political science at Arcadia University. This I-Café will examine Russian-Ukrainian relations, post-Soviet Ukrainian politics and internal conflicts, and the conflict in and about Crimea.

Angela Kachuyevski received a BA in international studies and in Russian language and literature from the Ohio State University, and an MA in law and diplomacy and a PhD in international relations from the Fletcher School at Tufts University. She studied, lived and worked in Russia during the early and mid-1990s, and has since often traveled to the region for research and to lead student travel, especially to the Baltic states and to Ukraine. Her research interests include conflicts in divided societies, minority rights and conflict prevention, and her recent publications focus on the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe's mediation efforts in Ukraine, and on identity boundaries and conflict management in divided societies, including a case study on Crimea.

International Café is a monthly forum sponsored by International Area Studies and the College of Arts and Sciences that provides globally themed discussions that are open to the entire Drexel community. The Café discusses contemporary issues, presented with scholarly research that has an international component. We invite you to share ideas and experiences in this unique yet informal setting.
