Event Description
The Office of International Programs is proud to present its next Cross Country Conversation event “Rio 2016: What is the real Olympic Impact?" This panel discussion will be moderated by Dr. Joel Maxcy, Interim Department Head for Sport Management. The panel will be made up of a combination of international and domestic students who will discuss the following the following questions from different perspectives. Audience members are encouraged to be active participants in the conversation, as well.

What are the costs and benefits of hosting the Olympics to Brazil and to Rio? Do the benefits outweigh the costs?
What do the Olympics represent to you / your country?
How and why do politics, current events, and sports impact each other?
What are the general perceptions about organized sports and the Olympics in your country? Do you notice a difference between how they are perceived in different countries and in the US?
